I aim to assist, within the next few weeks, with opening your vision to all from the wonderful Hidden Treasures with the Andaman Sea.

This first article of my series will cope with some of the Fascinating Islands from the Andaman Sea.

Let me begin with a modest overview concerning the Islands of the Andaman and some interesting information about their topography.

Hawaii of the Andaman Sea can be found off the coast of Thailand and so are composed of limestone, sandstone and decomposing granite.

The magnificent and big limestone formations in the
เกาะผ้า besides the Phi Phi Islands are filled with spectacular Caves, with Stalagmites and Stalactites. These amazing formations is seen characteristically upon their vertical faces.

These rock formations (Islands) can simply dissolve in mild acids, which allows for the formation of very unique Island structures such as Karsts and Hongs.

We Ask Ourselves About Such Amazing Karsts & The way they Came To Be?

In line with the history of our Mother nature, a collision of effective magnitude occurred about 300 million years ago, between the Indian sub continent and mainland Asia. The force with the tectonic plates pushed and rotated the whole of Thailand and Malaysia forcing the limestone across the surface, being a bar of wet soap slipping from your grasp!

The Karsts that have been then formed looked like fairy castles out of the sea, all different shapes and sizes. You can easily put your imagination for the test and see what these shapes provide you with; a sleeping princess, a wild dog, or think about a dragon…

There are some fascinating Hongs within the Andaman Sea as well. Hong is a Thai word for ‘room’, where you will find many hidden "Gardens of Eden", lagoons with shallow water which can be surrounded by mesmerizing cliff faces and speak in confidence to the clear blue sky above.

The delta inside the north of Phang Nga Bay shelters some exotic Caves and ancient wall paintings, rarely visited by tourists, although some Southern Islands have Hidden Caves that are accessible at low tide only.

Should you ever get a chance to penetrate one of these magnificent Hongs at low tide, from the back door, you won’t ever forget the splendour with the moment!
