Lifting slings can be purchased in a wide range of formats; Polyester or chain, endless or flat having an eye each side. These all use a different purpose.

Chains are tough, rugged and high, ideal for use when lifting heavy machinery or metal loads with the use of a crane or hoist where surface damage isn’t an issue because this can be caused by the heavy rough chains crashing down on the load because it is lowered. The metal hooks about the chain can also lead to further damage to the load.

Web slings are flat generating of polyester, usually manufactured to a safety factor of 7:1, since this is the required factor of safety for cargo slings. Regular slings are manufactured to this standard using a double ply of cloth for extra protection. Double ply or commonly known as ‘Duplex’ are more common these days as insurance providers and other inspecting bodies recommend them. Duplex models are double thickness to make certain total load security to the rated capacity. This relies on the apparatus being used correctly towards the working load limits shown on the blue tags attached. Web sling products feature a flat eye each side.

Endless Round Slings are lifting slings without any ends. They may be measured by circumference and have working load limits towards the customer’s request. Round sling products may be used to choke lift loads at which the sling is used as a choke around the load when it is lifted the stress is increased as well as the load is subject to extreme grip and lifting power. An excellent feature about round slings is they are the softest type of sling and is used in a multitude of applications. Just because round slings are soft does not necessarily mean they are not as strong as chain slings or web slings, all slings are as strong as their working load limit stated on the blue tags attached with each sling, this is stated on the certificate of conformity that should be shipped each and every sling consignment.

Regular safe working loads in one tonne up to 300 tonnes there is sure to be a lifting sling suited to your requirements. All lifting slings can be manufactured to the customer’s specification, this can include lengths, widths as well as the number of legs on each sling, and if chain slings are required the end fittings may be specified.
