In the excitement to find the perfect condominium, many individuals focus only around the actual unit that they will leave. For most, the building itself is little more than an afterthought. While you will spend the majority of your time inside the mooi residences floor plan, it is a mistake not to pay close attention to your building itself.
Following are four points to consider as you determine if that building which includes your dream condo is, indeed, best for you.
Proximity
One of the better parts of living in a condo may be the proximity to action, including sports, restaurants, nightclubs, cultural amenities, and jobs. While some condo buildings offer proximity to all or any of these, and much more, others don’t. So determine what is important for you. For many people, the ability to walk to be effective is a big deal. Others have no qualms about driving or using public transit (which also tends to be close to condo buildings). If you fall in love with a person condo that isn’t close to anyplace you typically go, you could be happy with your house for a while, but come to regret your decision.
Neighbors
Everyone can live in condominiums, that is one of their greatest draws. You never know who your friends will be. In many instances, young professionals, for example, tend to congregate in buildings, while retirees reside in others. That isn’t a hard and fast rule, but it is often true. Unless you care about the folks you live around, then it’s no big problem. But if you really are a young professional looking for friends, and you also live with a structure full of retirees, you may find you do not have much that resembles them.
Amenities
Love to swim? Work out? Throw parties? Many condo buildings include amenities like pools, fitness rooms, and party rooms. They’re known as common areas, and also the monthly association check you’re writing each month goes to pay for them. Different condo building offer different amenities so spend time considering exactly what you want. Other amenities include such items as security and underground parking.
Association bylaws
The association that manages the apartment building sets a number of rules for tenants. With respect to the association, those rules may cover from parking to simply how much leeway you’ve for making changes to your condo itself. Some associations might not allow pets, although some may not enable you to rent or sublease your condo. It’s worth considering what the association does and does not allow prior to signing on the dotted line.
