A Course in Miracles Daily Lessons Online Free

A Course in Miracles is very practical. It teaches a day by day approach to unwinding the ego thought system and limiting beliefs that hold us back.

The Course was scribed and typed between 1965-1972, and published in 1976. It has gone on to touch thousands of lives worldwide.
What is a Course in Miracles?

A Course in Miracles is a modern spiritual classic that has been read by millions of people worldwide. It is a self-study system of “spiritual psychology,” combining profound spiritual teachings with deep psychological insights. It has also become a major influence on the growing number of people who describe themselves as “spiritual but not religious.”

Helen Schucman, an academic psychologist at Columbia University, was working on her PhD when she began to experience a series of intense inner experiences that culminated in the fall of 1965. These included heightened dreams, visions, and psychic experiences that she attributed to the guidance of an invisible teacher.

The result of these experiences was a series of texts that she called A Course in Miracles. She later explained that the book came to her through a process of “inner dictation,” or a direct communication from Jesus Christ. The Course is not a religion, although it uses Christian terminology and focuses on forgiveness. It describes itself as a curriculum designed to lead its students to the awareness of God’s love.

When first published in 1976, the book was met with mixed reactions. Some argued with the ideas, while others gave it tremendous authority and devoted their lives to its teachings. In the years since, the Course has grown to be recognized as a modern spiritual classic and is considered by many to be scriptural in nature.

Today, A Course in Miracles is a global movement with numerous organizations and events that support the study of the text and practice of its principles. It has also spawned two ACIM supplements: Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process and Practice and The Song of Prayer: Forgiveness, Healing and Freedom.

Our free A Course in Miracles Online Edition features the entire Text of the Course and includes a table of contents to help you find what you are looking for. It also includes our ACIM Supplements which feature readings and commentary by David Hoffmeister. These are perfect companions to our online Text and Workbook, helping you dive deeper into the ACIM lessons. This is a great way to begin your journey with the Course and learn to apply its teachings in your daily life.
    What is the Workbook?

The workbook of A Course in Miracles offers a day by day, step by step approach to unwinding the ego thought system and healing our limiting beliefs. It’s a very practical way to apply the principles of the course and is essential for anyone committed to learning and practicing ACIM.

The Course is written on a high intellectual level, with profound metaphysical and theological concepts integrated throughout its three books. Its language is poetic and is often compared to the great literature of the world. It also incorporates sophisticated psychological concepts on the nature of beliefs and defense systems, and perception and identity.

Although the Course is spiritual, it also addresses very real issues in people’s lives such as healing relationships, overcoming illness and pain, finding peace of mind and eliminating anger, guilt and fear. It is designed to help us to let go of these limiting beliefs, and to experience the Love of God for ourselves and others.

Along with its theoretical framework (the Text), the Course has a daily practice portion (the Workbook) that consists of 365 lessons. The Workbook lessons are intended to deepen your understanding of the Text and the Course’s teachings on forgiveness, and to prepare you for teaching them to others.

There are many resources available for studying A Course in Miracles, including books, audio recordings and online courses. However, there is nothing that can replace actually doing the daily Workbook lessons. This is because the process of letting go of your beliefs and seeing things through Jesus’ eyes requires that you practice and apply its teachings in your everyday life.

One of the best ways to do this is by participating in Alan’s weekly webinar series, “ACIM Made Easy”. Each lesson illuminates one aspect of the Course and provides lots of meaningful, practical examples for applying it to your life. Alan’s unique, reader-friendly approach will serve both longtime students of the Course and those just beginning to learn it. You can watch these free pre-recorded webinars in the comfort of your own home or office, with no cost or obligation.
    What is the Text?

A Course in Miracles consists of three books: the Text, the Workbook for Students, and the Manual for Teachers. There is also an appendix called the Clarification of Terms and two pamphlets. The Course is written on a high intellectual level, with sophisticated metaphysical, theological, and psychological concepts integrated throughout its thought system. It is also poetic and written mostly in blank verse, which has led some to compare it with some of the world’s great literature.

It is therefore challenging for many people to read and understand the Course on its own. For this reason, many have found it helpful to receive instruction and guidance from someone who is knowledgeable about the content of the Course. David Hoffmeister offers an excellent way for new and existing ACIM students to do this. In this series of free pre-recorded webinars, he walks the viewer through one section of the Text and the daily lesson in the Workbook, providing insightful commentary.

In addition, Pathways of Light offers the ‘Lesson Insight’ series on YouTube, which features a video of Ken Wapnick or one of the staff presenting an in-depth explanation of the ACIM Lesson of the Day in the Workbook for Students. This video is followed by a question and answer period with the audience.

Although the Course uses Christian terminology, it is ecumenical in nature and states that “a universal theology is impossible, but a universal experience is not only possible but necessary” (M.1.4). It does not claim to be the only way to God, but rather that it is a helpful tool in reaching that end.

While the principles of the Course can seem radical and not of this world, it has been shown to be a powerful method for healing abandonment, fear, depression, anxiety, addictions, and other lifelong challenges. It does this through the application of its principles, which are based on forgiveness and a deep recognition that love is the only reality. This is accomplished through a systematic, step-by-step approach to transformation, with the help of the daily lessons in the Workbook for Students.
What is the Manual for Teachers?

All students of A Course in Miracles know that it consists of three volumes: a Text, a Workbook for Students and the Manual for Teachers. They also know that each of these volumes is intended for a different purpose. The Text is meant to be read and studied, the Workbook is meant to be practiced and its lessons performed and the Manual for Teachers is meant to instruct teachers on how to teach the Course.

But what exactly does the Manual for Teachers entail? It is primarily concerned with teaching those who have made the choice to see their own interests as the same as another’s and thus have become teachers of a special form of the universal course. It is for these teachers that the Manual focuses on and teaches them how to teach the Holy Spirit’s curriculum.

Specifically, this involves teaching forgiveness to the people they encounter in their daily lives. In seven of the Manual’s fourteen sections, the teacher of God is portrayed as a faith healer or, more precisely, a forgiveness healer. In five of these sections the healer is envisioned as going to the sick (or more accurately, the mentally ill) and offering them healing through the power of forgiveness.

It is this concept that has caused the confusion and misunderstanding about the meaning a course in miracles
of the Manual for Teachers. The other aspect of the Manual that has contributed to this confusion is its portrayal of the teacher of God in two different forms. One is that of a spiritual shepherd, mentor or guide – the Course’s version of an Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor. This is the teacher who accepts particular pupils and guides them along the path of learning A Course in Miracles, endeavoring to give them all that he knows about the Course until they are ready to become teachers themselves.
